Brava Education is working with a primary special school in the Thames Valley near Abingdon to recruit an experienced Interim Headteacher to steer the school through leadership change. This hands-on headship focuses on pupils with SEMH needs and autism within a specialist multi-academy trust.

The successful candidate will provide clear direction, stabilise day-to-day operations, review risk, mentor leaders, maintain high teaching standards, and work with Executive Headteacher and trust leaders

Formación

• Headship experience, substantive or interim, ideally in SEMH or specialist settings.
• Strong people skills and a calm, visible presence with staff, pupils and families.
• Sound judgement on risk and safeguarding; DSL experience is an advantage.
• Track record of developing and coaching leaders.
• A strong teaching and learning background is desirable.

Brava Education is working with a primary special school in the Thames Valley, who are looking for an experienced Interim Headteacher to lead the school through a period of leadership change.

The role

This is a hands‑on headship within a primary special school supporting pupils with SEMH needs and autism. The school is part of a specialist multi‑academy trust.

Your priority will be to give staff clear direction and steady the day‑to‑day running of the school, leading it day to day and giving staff stability and confidence in decision making. You will review risk across the school and strengthen practice where needed.

You will also coach and mentor leaders who are new to their roles and hold them to account, maintain high standards of teaching and learning, and work alongside the Executive Headteacher and trust leaders on the school's priorities.

About you

• Headship experience, substantive or interim, ideally in SEMH or specialist settings.

Terms

The role is interim and full time, five days a week on site, with some flexibility for the right candidate. It offers a competitive day rate and a start after October half term, running until Easter in the first instance.
