Job summary

ICAEW is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support year-end and audit periods in a hybrid Exeter-based role. This hands-on assignment focuses on statutory accounting, year-end accounts preparation and audit support with minimal supervision.

The role requires ACA/ACCA qualification, strong statutory accounting skills, and proven year-end experience. You will work autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with immediate availability preferred.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Strong background in pure statutory accounting.
• Proven year-end accounts preparation experience.
• Experience supporting external audits.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal handover.
• Available immediately or at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Complete partially prepared year-end statutory accounts.
• Lead on outstanding financial accounting activities and ensure key deadlines are achieved.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support external audit processes and liaise with auditors.
• Assist with financial reporting requirements.
• Resolve technical accounting issues as they arise.
• Provide additional resource during a busy reporting period.
• Work autonomously and quickly assess priorities.

Interim Financial Accountant

• Exeter | Hybrid Working (3 days office / 2 days WFH)
• Up to £30 per hour
• 37.5 hours per week
• Immediate start through to January 2027

A growing and innovative technology business is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support a critical year-end and audit period. This is a hands‑on assignment suited to a technically strong accountant who can quickly take ownership of outstanding financial accounting work and deliver results with minimal supervision.

This role is focused on pure statutory accounting, year‑end accounts preparation and audit support rather than broader commercial finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete partially prepared year-end statutory accounts
• Lead on outstanding financial accounting activities and ensure key deadlines are achieved
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Support external audit processes and liaise with auditors
• Assist with financial reporting requirements
• Resolve technical accounting issues as they arise
• Provide additional resource during a busy reporting period
• Work autonomously and quickly assess priorities
