Job summary

Axon Moore are supporting a well-established professional services business in the appointment of an Interim Finance Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function during a period of transition, working closely with the Finance Director, and taking ownership of critical processes during handover.

This six-month interim assignment requires ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent, with strong month-end, balance sheet

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by equivalent experience.
• Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or a strong Senior Management Accountant.
• Proven experience of managing or supervising a finance team.
• Strong technical finance experience, including month-end, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience working with finance systems.

Responsibilities

• Taking control of the day-to-day finance function and ensuring critical processes and deadlines are maintained throughout the transition.
• Working alongside outgoing team members to capture knowledge of key finance processes, responsibilities and deadlines.
• Managing the handover of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, audit, banking, payroll and cash flow.
• Documenting key finance processes, controls, reporting requirements and recurring tasks to support a smooth transition.
• Taking ownership of complex billing issues, investigating discrepancies and resolving system and data issues.
• Producing monthly reporting and supporting the month-end close, including journals, reconciliations and general accounting.

Axon Moore are supporting a well-established professional services business in the appointment of an Interim Finance Manager.The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function during a period of transition. Working closely with the Finance Director, the Interim Finance Manager will take ownership of critical finance processes, support the handover from departing team members and ensure a structured transfer of knowledge to incoming permanent hires.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Taking control of the day-to-day finance function and ensuring critical processes and deadlines are maintained throughout the transition
• Working alongside outgoing team members to capture knowledge of key finance processes, responsibilities and deadlines
• Managing the handover of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, audit, banking, payroll and cash flow
• Documenting key finance processes, controls, reporting requirements and recurring tasks to support a smooth transition
• Taking ownership of complex billing issues, investigating discrepancies and resolving system and data issues
• Producing monthly reporting and supporting the month-end close, including journals, reconciliations and general accounting

This is a six-month interim assignment, with an immediate requirement for someone who can start within the next 1–2 weeks.
