Job summary

Axon Moore are pleased to partner with a fast growing manufacturing business as they look to recruit an interim financial controller to support the managing director as the business continues its growth journey.

You will take ownership of month-end close, lead management reporting, oversee cash, stock and margins, and partner with senior leaders to drive improvements across financial controls and processes.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with manufacturing/engineering or product-based experience preferred.
• Strong grounding in management accounts and month-end reporting.
• Experience with stock, inventory, standard costing and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the month-end close process and timely management accounts.
• Lead the preparation and review of monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow and working capital management.
• Maintain robust financial controls and processes across the business.
• Provide analysis on costs, margins, production performance and profitability.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve financial visibility and performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Assist with year-end accounts, audits and statutory reporting.
• Support business improvement projects and senior leadership decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts.
• Lead the preparation and review of monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
• Oversee the balance sheet, reconciliations, cash flow and working capital.
• Ensure robust financial controls and processes are maintained across the business.
• Provide meaningful analysis around costs, margins, production performance and profitability.
• Work closely with operational teams to improve financial visibility and performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Improve processes, controls and reporting.
• Assist with year-end accounts, audit and statutory reporting.
• Provide financial support on operational and business improvement projects.
• Act as a key finance partner to the senior leadership team.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), although strong qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based environment.
• Strong understanding of management accounts, financial control and month-end reporting.
• Experience with stock, inventory, standard costing, production costs and gross margin analysis.
• The ability to quickly understand a business and make an immediate impact
