Job summary

Allen Lane Limited is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead financial control, statutory reporting, and compliance on a short-term basis. The role focuses on strengthening controls, delivering timely reporting, and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with robust audit and VAT knowledge, experience in leading finance teams, and the ability to start immediately for a 3–6 month contract with flexible working

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting/ VAT knowledge.
• Experience as Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
• Proven team leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 proficiency.
• Experience in charity, public sector or not-for-profit is beneficial.

• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow, and accounting processes.
• Oversee year-end accounts preparation and external audits.

• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow and financial accounting processes.

• Ensure compliance with VAT, HMRC and regulatory requirements.
• Drive process improvements and strengthen financial controls.
• Support and develop the finance team while partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
• Strong technical accounting, audit and VAT knowledge.
• Experience managing finance teams within complex organisations.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
• Charity, public sector or not-for-profit experience would be advantageous.
