Job summary

Axon Moore are pleased to partner with a fast growing manufacturing business as they look to recruit an interim financial controller to support the managing director as the business continues its growth journey.

The role involves taking ownership of the month-end close, leading management reporting and financial analysis, overseeing cash flow and working capital, and acting as a key finance partner to the senior leadership team.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA OR qualified by experience
• Experience in manufacturing/engineering/product-based environment
• Strong understanding of management accounts, financial control and month-end reporting
• Experience with stock, inventory, standard costing and gross margin analysis

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close process and management accounts
• Lead monthly management reporting and financial analysis
• Oversee balance sheet, reconciliations, cash flow and working capital
• Maintain robust financial controls across the business
• Provide analysis on costs, margins, production performance and profitability
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve financial visibility
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Improve processes, controls and reporting
• Assist with year-end accounts, audit and statutory reporting
• Provide financial support on operational and business improvement projects
• Partner with senior leadership as finance lead

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts.
• Lead the preparation and review of monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
• Oversee the balance sheet, reconciliations, cash flow and working capital.
• Ensure robust financial controls and processes are maintained across the business.
• Provide meaningful analysis around costs, margins, production performance and profitability.
• Work closely with operational teams to improve financial visibility and performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Improve processes, controls and reporting.
• Assist with year-end accounts, audit and statutory reporting.
• Provide financial support on operational and business improvement projects.
• Act as a key finance partner to the senior leadership team.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), although strong qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based environment.
• Strong understanding of management accounts, financial control and month-end reporting.
• Experience with stock, inventory, standard costing, production costs and gross margin analysis.
