Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to work in an Alternative Provision setting in Leicester. This role offers 1:1 and small-group support, fostering strong relationships and helping pupils re-engage with learning.

You will work with teachers to manage challenging behaviour and SEMH needs in a calm, structured environment. Starting immediately, the position is Monday to Friday, term time only, with ongoing opportunities across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience with challenging behaviour, SEMH or disengagement risks.
• Experience in Alternative Provision or similar settings is beneficial.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within an Alternative Provision setting.
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• Support students with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and emotional regulation.
• Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Encourage pupils to engage with learning and develop confidence.
• Help pupils develop social, emotional and independent learning skills.
• Work with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support in a calm, structured environment.
