Qualifications

Oaklands Hospital is recruiting for an Infection Prevention & Control Lead Nurse to join the team on a part-time contract.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out surveillance to identify and monitor infections within the hospital.
  • Providing advice on Infection Prevention and Control issues and contributing to the development of local procedures based on group policy.
  • Undertaking training and education on Infection Prevention and Control issues.
  • Attending and reporting for Infection Control and Clinical Governance Committees.
  • Conducting environmental audits for infection prevention and control throughout the hospital, developing and implementing action plans.
  • Liaising closely with all department heads on Infection Prevention and Control issues.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff using infection prevention and control knowledge, communication, nursing, and teaching skills.
  • Coordinating all Infection Prevention and Control aspects within the hospital on behalf of the Hospital Director.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current NMC registration.
  • At least 30 credits at level 5 or 6 in modules relevant to Infection Prevention and Control Practice or a recognized qualification/willingness to undertake one - essential.
  • A teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent - desirable.
  • A warm, considerate, and empathetic character.
  • A commitment to supporting patients and the team.
  • Ability to make decisions and use initiative.
  • Flexible and positive attitude.
