Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Band 5 / Band 6 Registered Nurses to join the team on Rockingham Elective Orthopaedic Ward. Rockingham is a busy, ring-fenced elective ward with capacity to accept up to 8 trauma patients. We are seeking an innovative, approachable individual who is calm under pressure and has excellent people skills to join our friendly and supportive team. You need to have experience in prioritising workload, staff management, and delivering first-class patient care from admission to safe discharge planning. The ideal candidates should have post-registration experience, ideally in a surgical environment, be motivated and enthusiastic, possess excellent communication skills, be a team player, and wish to develop their surgical skills as well as other competencies. This is a clinical role, and the successful candidate will support the Band 7 in leadership, ward management, and standards improvement, while providing support to MDT members, patients, and families. Main duties of the job
  1. Maintain high standards of clinical skills, including management of post-op patients.
  2. Administer medication safely and promote self-administration.
  3. Care for surgical wounds.
  4. Ensure staff are MAST compliant.
  5. Support the Ward Manager in staff appraisals.
  6. Respond to staff and patient feedback.
  7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Conduct Datix investigations and attend formal meetings.
  9. Attend Quality Assurance and Roster meetings in the absence of the Ward Manager.
