Job description

We are seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Medivet Ashton 24 Hour on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The clinic features a large prep area, imaging suite, bespoke dog and cat wards, and a separate isolation area. You will manage a team of nurses and reception staff, with dedicated support from our Practice Manager and Operations Director as needed.

This role is 40 hours per week, with 1 in 6 full weekends.

Role Accountabilities

In this role, you will:

• Deliver exceptional care to clients and patients.
• Support surgeries and procedures, handling all pre- and post-procedure activities.
• Conduct nurse-led appointments and schedule related activities.
• Provide patient monitoring and care.
• Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
• Transfer patients to out-of-hours or enhanced care as needed.
• Dispense and verify medication.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
• Hold team briefings to coordinate practice activities effectively.

Your Skills and Experience

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience in delivering high-quality patient and client care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience supporting nurse consultations and understanding their impact on practice performance.
• Skilled in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve best outcomes.
