Job summary

Kier Group in Falmer, East Sussex, is offering an Industrial Placement for a Quantity Surveyor student to support infrastructure projects under the Southern Water Framework. The placement runs for 12 months (40 hours/week) with a starting salary of £27,976 per annum, starting September 2027, in Falmer.

The programme provides mentorship, hands-on experience, and a potential route to a graduate position, with exposure to commercial and contractual aspects of infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Degree (or working towards a degree) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrates numerical confidence and the ability to use data to support decision-making (with support and development where required).
• Shows enthusiasm for learning new skills and knowledge, and the ability to adapt in response to feedback.
• Works effectively as part of a team, demonstrating collaboration, reliability, and respect for others.
• Hold a full UK driver license.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial resources of the project.
• Assisting in maximising gross profit for projects.
• Assessing, reviewing, and mitigating commercial/contractual risks as well as value work executed by sub-contractors.
• Helping prepare and submit tenders and contract documents.
• Collaborating with the project team to prepare progress reports and financial statements.
