Job summary

Mars Petcare's Melton Mowbray factory, a cornerstone of UK pet food production, is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. You will maintain automated systems, troubleshoot complex equipment, and lead technical coaching to reduce downtime.

You will work with cutting-edge tech on high-speed processing lines, participate in safety programs, and benefit from Mars' extensive training, development, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering, backed by practical experience.
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments with troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems.
• Proven problem-solving skills with root-cause analysis and fault finding.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Leadership and teamwork abilities to coach and inspire others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automated electromechanical systems across the facility.
• Diagnose breakdowns and implement timely resolutions to reduce downtime and boost productivity.
• Lead by example as a technical coach and support colleagues with expertise.
• Drive small-scale improvements and contribute to continuous innovation and efficiency.
• Participate in safety risk assessments and ensure compliance with standards (ISO 14000, PTW, Hot Work).
• Communicate effectively between operations and technical teams to ensure alignment.
• Develop talent through training and mentoring of engineers.

• Technical qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, backed by practical experience
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments: You know how to troubleshoot and maintain complex mechanical systems.
• Proven problem-solving skills: You excel at Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.
• Technical proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Leadership & teamwork: You thrive in a collaborative setting, with the ability to coach and inspire others.

• Keep things running smoothly: Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated, electromechanical systems – from refrigeration systems to meat processing equipment, conveyors, and fluid systems.

• Team leader & technical coach: Lead by example and support your colleagues, sharing your technical expertise to elevate the team.
