Job summary

Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our fast-paced FMCG site. You will drive reduction in downtime, lead root cause analyses and deliver maintenance with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The role offers a generous salary and enhanced benefits, including a welcome bonus and on-site facilities. The position involves 12-hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) and opportunities for career growth through Mars University and structured development

Qualifications

• Qualified to a minimum of Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
• Strong problem-solving capability with root cause analysis.
• Proficient in key systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Competent in risk assessment and change control processes, ensuring compliance and safe working practices.
• Experienced in leading root cause analysis and fault-finding investigations to drive sustainable improvements.

Responsibilities

• Ability to fault find and problem solve on a broad range of equipment in a variety of situations.
• Effective delivery of maintenance activities to ensure smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.
• Take part in risk assessments and formulation of method statements to assist in safe undertaking of any activity.
• Identify parts for the purchasing of goods and services where these are necessary to conclude work.
• Fix breakdowns in a timely manner during their shift timeframe.
• Level one problem solving including component failure analysis.
• Detailed entry into Atlas of all breakdowns / known jobs.
