Job summary

Oliver Rae Ltd in Stourbridge is seeking an IT Technician to join a thriving manufacturing environment. You will gain hands-on experience with ERP systems, automation projects, robotics, vision inspection tech, Power BI reporting and factory connectivity.

Full training provided to build a long-term career in modern manufacturing. The role covers Synchro ERP support, setup and maintenance of software/hardware and shop-floor devices, and connecting PLCs to IT systems.

Qualifications

• Good IT literacy and genuine interest in computer systems, networks and industrial technology.
• Willingness to learn ERP, vision inspection, and how shop-floor systems connect.
• Good communication skills with shop floor and office.
• Logical, methodical approach to fault-finding.
• Ability to plan and prioritise workload across multiple projects.
• Relevant IT/Computing/Electronics/Engineering qualification desirable but not essential.
• Interest in automation and robotics is an advantage, training provided.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact and internal champion for the Synchro ERP system, supporting users and data integrity.
• Assist in setup, configuration and maintenance of software, hardware and shop floor devices.
• Support and maintain the Keyence vision inspection system and its rollout.
• Provide first-line support for shop-floor PCs, scanners and network connectivity; escalate PLC/machine issues as needed.
• Develop and maintain connectivity between machines, systems and the Company network.
• Assist data integration from PLCs and shop-floor equipment into IT systems (Synchro ERP, Power BI).
• Support automation initiatives, including robot programming and implementation of automated systems.
• Install and maintain shop floor visual displays and ensure production information is current.
• Assist in rolling out Power BI dashboards; identify reporting needs across departments.
• Act as liaison between internal IT needs and external IT support; escalate when needed.
• Lead and complete allocated IT/technical projects with stakeholder updates.
• Maintain documentation of systems, configurations and network setup.
