Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College is seeking an Independent Living Skills Technician to support learners aged 16 to 25 with EHCPs. You will help develop practical life skills, independence and employability through engaging activities, both on campus and in the community.

The role works with the SEND Support team to help learners progress towards adulthood in a supportive, inclusive environment. Term-time, permanent contract with October 2026 start date.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification.
• Experience with young people aged 16–25.
• Experience in an educational environment.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Confident using IT systems and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Develop independence, confidence and life skills in learners.
• Deliver practical learning activities promoting independent living and employability.
• Collaborate with curriculum staff, families and SEND team to ensure positive outcomes.
• Encourage learners to make informed choices and advocate for themselves.
• Monitor progress towards EHCP outcomes.
• Support learning within college and in community settings.
• Contribute to a positive, learner-centred environment.
• Prepare learners for next steps in education, employment or independent living.
