Job summary

Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking a compassionate Independent Living Officer to join our Housing Team. You will split time between our city centre office and four sheltered schemes, helping residents to live independently, sustain their tenancies and stay safe.

The role covers housing management, resident welfare visits, welfare checks, rent accounts and liaison with partners. Essential requirements include experience in housing, good communication and IT skills, a valid driving licence and

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, sheltered housing or tenancy support.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proficiency with IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
• Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support residents to live independently and sustain tenancies.
• Carry out resident welfare visits and wellbeing checks.
• Complete resident inductions and license-related administration.
• Monitor resident wellbeing and liaise with external agencies, relatives and professionals where appropriate.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, health and safety concerns and property risks.
• Promote resident engagement and participation in activities and community events.
• Assist in resolving neighbour disputes and maintaining harmonious communities.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
• Respond appropriately to emergency alarm calls and resident emergencies when on duty.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Trust’s housing services.
• Monitor rent accounts, identify and manage rent arrears, and take appropriate action in accordance with Trust procedures.
• Investigate and address anti-social behaviour, nuisance and license-related issues to maintain a safe and harmonious living environment for residents
