Job summary

LGBT Jobs is seeking an Independent Living Advisor for West London (Richmond and Hammersmith & Fulham). The role is full-time and permanent, covering multiple schemes. You will help older people maintain independence, wellbeing, and quality of life while travelling between sites.

The position involves 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with reporting to the Independent Living Manager. You will support tenancy processes, benefits access, and signpost to services as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting older people and promoting independent living.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Good administrative and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality housing management services across sheltered schemes.
• Build strong relationships with residents and support prospective tenants through viewings and moving-in.
• Explain tenancy rights and responsibilities to residents.
• Provide advice on accessing housing-related benefits and signpost to services.
• Carry out scheme inspections and monitor health and safety standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and travel across schemes in West London.

We are currently recruiting for an Independent Living Advisor to join our team on a full time, permanent basis, covering West London (Richmond and Hammersmith & Fulham) This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting older people to maintain their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

You will be working 35 hours per week, over 5 days, Monday - Friday.

Reporting to the Independent Living Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality housing management services across our sheltered schemes. You will build strong relationships with residents, support prospective tenants through viewings and the moving-in process, and ensure residents fully understand their tenancy agreements, including their rights and responsibilities.

You will also provide advice and guidance on accessing financial support, including housing-related benefits, and signpost or refer residents to appropriate services such as assistive technology, property adaptations, or additional support where needed. As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will carry out scheme inspections, ensure health and safety standards are met, and monitor contractor performance to maintain high service delivery standards.

As this is a floating role, flexibility to travel across schemes in the West London region is essential.
