Job summary

Sunderland College is seeking an Inclusion Mentor to support learners with SEND within the Directions provision. You will provide mentor support to students on mainstream or discrete courses, helping them access learning and build confidence.

The role is permanent, part-time (24 hours across 35 weeks per year) with a pro rata salary of £25,949. You’ll collaborate with curriculum teams and student support to personalise learning strategies and remove barriers to achievement.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP) and assessment/support plans.
  • Awareness of SEND Code of Practice and the Equality Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentor support to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities on mainstream or discrete courses.
  • Assist in the implementation of detailed assessments and monitoring of support strategies.
  • Devise and implement support strategies with senior staff to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Identify potential problems early and communicate to teaching staff and management.
