Job summary

Burnside College is seeking a highly effective Learning Support Assistant to support learners, including those with additional needs, within an inclusive environment. The role involves one-to-one and small-group sessions, promoting participation, tracking progress and working with teaching staff to maximise progress.

You will contribute to behaviour management, record-keeping and personal development through reflective practice.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with additional needs.
• Deliver out-of-class learning activities within guidelines established by the school.
• Commitment to continuing professional development and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Establish productive relationships with pupils and act as a role model.
• Support learners with social and emotional issues to restore participation and learning.
• Promote independence and reward self-reliance and collaboration.
• Develop specialist knowledge of curriculum and bespoke learner needs with teaching staff.
• Record progress and provide evidence of attainment for stakeholders.
• Work within the school behaviour policy to manage behaviour constructively.
• Contribute to departmental and whole-school training and development.
• Deliver learning activities outside the classroom as required.
