Job summary

1st Central in the UK is seeking a Motor Vehicle In-House Engineer based in Haywards Heath or Salford Quays. You will help manage motor claims spend while delivering exceptional service to customers and colleagues.

Using your technical expertise and market knowledge, you’ll ensure vehicles are repaired safely and cost-effectively, or accurately valued when beyond repair. You’ll work with customers and third parties, explaining decisions clearly while managing expectations throughout the claim.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a motor vehicle estimating / motor engineering environment.
• Influencing, negotiation and relationship building.
• Solid Claims Knowledge.
• Competent understanding of insurance principals.
• Extensive vehicle make up knowledge.
• Good working knowledge of vehicle types, makes and models.
• Knowledge of motor vehicles, modern repair techniques, estimating methods, technology and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate settlement of motor vehicles.
• Work to agreed timescales and business parameters.
• Liaise directly with customers.
• Audit and evaluate performance of repairers; make cost and service recommendations.
• Manage non-approved repairers and provide a complete triage solution.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance to the claims teams and support other areas in Accidental Damage/Third Party engineering.
