Job summary

1st Central in the UK is seeking a Motor Vehicle In-House Engineer to join the Engineering team. The role is based in Haywards Heath or Salford Quays, with an initial two weeks in-office training, followed by a hybrid pattern of four days at home and one day in the office.

You will negotiate settlements, assess repair costs, and guide customers through the claim process while ensuring compliance with policy conditions and relevant legislation. AQP qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate settlements for motor vehicles.
• Work to agreed timescales and business parameters.
• Liaise directly with customers throughout the claim process.
• Audit and evaluate repairer performance and costs; advise on quality and service.
• Manage non-approved repairers and provide triage solutions.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance to claims teams and support various engineering aspects of claims.
• Explain complex decisions in terms suitable for policyholders.
• Identify fraudulent activity through investigation and liaison with claims colleagues.
• Support all aspects of the claims process to expedite settlement and minimise cost.
• Ensure work complies with KPI's, SLA's and company policies.
