Job summary

Randstad Education seeks a motivated Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 in a Swindon school. You will work with the class team to provide targeted support, helping pupils access the curriculum and stay engaged throughout the day.

Ideal candidates have experience with children or young people, excellent communication, patience, and a proactive, reliable attitude. DBS check via Update Service is required or available.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people, whether in schools, youth work, sports coaching, or care settings.
• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with patience, adaptability, and strong classroom management support.
• Attitude: A proactive, friendly, and reliable approach with a genuine desire to make a difference in young people's lives.
• Requirements: An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups in lessons to help them access the curriculum effectively.
• Assist pupils with additional learning needs (SEN), adapting tasks and resources where necessary to ensure inclusivity.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment throughout the school day.
• Build strong, encouraging relationships with students to boost their confidence, motivation, and classroom engagement.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to monitor, track, and report on student progress.
