Job summary

Teaching Personnel seeks dedicated SEN Learning & Inclusion Mentors for a specialist primary SEN setting in the Altrincham area. Roles involve 1:1 and small-group support for children aged 4-11 with diverse needs, helping access learning and develop essential skills.

The ideal candidate shows experience with SEN, patience, strong communication, and a genuine passion for helping children. Immediate start dates and flexible full-/part-time options are available, with safeguarding training provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Patient, resilient, and caring approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Experience in education, care, youth work, support work, psychology, health care, or similar sectors is desirable.
  • Qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN needs.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence throughout the school day.
  • Support children with communication and interaction needs using appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Assist with personalised learning activities tailored to EHCPs.
  • Help pupils develop social, emotional, and life skills within a nurturing environment.
  • Support sensory regulation and behaviour management using positive and consistent approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for every child.
