Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning & Inclusion Mentor for a thriving Secondary SEN school in the Manchester area. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of needs, helping them engage with learning and develop confidence in a specialist environment.

The role involves building strong relationships with students with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN, MLD, SLD, and related challenges, supporting staff with interventions, and promoting positive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children/young people with SEN/SEMH/additional learning needs.
  • Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, coaching, or mental health support welcomed.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilient, patient, adaptable and compassionate approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to supporting students with complex needs and positive outcomes.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one via Teaching Personnel.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a variety of SEN needs.
  • Support pupils inside and outside the classroom to encourage engagement.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students who may face barriers to learning.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
  • Implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans.
  • Encourage social, emotional, and independent skills development.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students during break times, visits and enrichment activities.
