Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support learning across Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2 at a mainstream primary school in Cheltenham. Start ASAP, full-time, 8:30am–3:30pm, with DBS checks and a daily rate of £90–£105.

You will work with teachers to deliver lessons, support pupils with diverse needs including ASD, and help create a positive classroom environment while following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education and development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
• Experience supporting children with ASD, behavioural needs or learning difficulties would be highly beneficial.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and well-planned lessons across the curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils where required.
• Support children's learning across core subjects including Maths and English.
• Assist with foundation subjects such as Geography, PE and other areas of the curriculum.
• Help create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Encourage children to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and provide appropriate emotional and pastoral support.
• Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, behavioural needs and learning difficulties.
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation and general learning activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour management strategies.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
