Job summary

Academics Ltd is hiring a Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Stroud. You will support learning across Foundation Stage, KS1 or KS2 and gain valuable classroom experience within the National Curriculum.

The role involves working closely with teachers, supporting pupils with various learning needs and helping create a positive, inclusive classroom environment. A passion for helping children thrive and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
• Experience supporting children with ASD or learning difficulties would be beneficial.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a school environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and well-planned lessons across the curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils where required.
• Support children's learning across Maths and English.
• Assist with foundation subjects such as Geography, PE and other areas of the curriculum.
• Help create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Encourage children to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and provide appropriate emotional and pastoral support.
• Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, behavioural needs and learning difficulties.
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation and general learning activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour management strategies.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
