Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a passionate Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a friendly Watford primary school from January 2027. You will support Nursery/Reception learners, assist teachers with engaging EYFS activities, and help foster a safe, inclusive classroom culture that promotes social, emotional, and academic development.

The role involves small-group and 1:1 support, monitoring progress, and contributing to a positive early years environment within a well-resourced setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in nursery, preschool, or school settings.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning desirable.
• Warm, caring and patient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding safeguarding and child development are important.
• Enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about early years education.

Responsibilities

• Support children in Nursery or Reception with learning and development.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering EYFS activities.
• Help create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support children's communication, language, literacy and numeracy development.
• Encourage independence and positive social interactions.
• Work with small groups and individuals to reinforce learning objectives.
• Support children's personal care where required.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and achievements.
