Job description

Are you customer service focused, a problem solver, and someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment?

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team of skilled ICT Support Officers. The ICT Service Desk provides technical support, advice, and information on a wide range of hardware and applications and is the single point of contact for all customer ICT requests, problems, and issues.

The role works across Staffordshire County Council and the ICT community. It is primarily responsible for the provision of first and second-line support, providing efficient problem resolution, advice, and support for customers dealing with user applications and laptops, including associated peripheral devices. You will make use of corporate standards, best practices, and established industrial standards to achieve the objectives of the unit.

The post, after an initial 2-week in-office training period, follows a hybrid working model based on 2 days in the office and 3 days at home. We will provide a standard laptop and necessary kit, but you must have a stable internet connection at home. The post is a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Taking calls from SCC customers throughout Staffordshire and beyond.
  2. Thinking on your feet and solving issues at first line.
  3. Developing our self-service customer portal.
  4. Providing excellent customer service at all times.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for you to have:

  • Excellent technical ICT knowledge, including PC hardware, mobiles, tablets, and a wide range of software such as Operating Systems, Office 365, Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Exceptional communication and customer care skills.
  • Experience of working in a support environment is essential.

For an informal discussion, please contact Helen Crook, Team Leader, ICT Service Desk at helen.crook@staffordshire.gov.uk.

We're happy to talk about flexible working options.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 2 June 2025.
