Job summary

Bluegate Consulting Ltd. is seeking an IC Layout Engineer in Durham to translate complex designs into precise layouts and support the mask-release process. The role involves creating layouts and reticle sets, and documenting design and mask-release steps.

You will coordinate with customers, engineers, Program Managers, and mask manufacturers while maintaining accurate design records throughout the project lifecycle. Must have a science or engineering background and strong CAD skills.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ electronic or electrical engineering experience with CAD.
• Familiarity with KLayout, L-Edit, Nazca Design or similar layout software.
• Programming knowledge (ideally Python or similar).

Have you worked within a commercial environment and are ready to turn complex designs into precision-ready layouts?

Support internal and external customers from first IC concept through mask release.

You’ll create IC layouts and reticle sets, prepare design and mask-release documentation, coordinate with customers, engineers, Program Managers and mask manufacturers, and keep design records accurate and up to date.

You’ll bring:

• At least 2 years’ electronic or electrical engineering experience, with CAD


• Familiarity with KLayout, L-Edit, Nazca Design or similar layout software


• Programming knowledge (ideally Python is similar but any experience will be helpful.)


• Strong maths, attention to detail and confident Microsoft Office skills


• Clear communication and a logical approach to solving spatial design challenges


• Qualified in a science or engineering discipline

PCB Layout experience will be considered.

Must be British due to working within a sensitive environment.
