Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd is seeking a Junior PCB Design Engineer near Saffron Walden to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. The role covers the full PCB design lifecycle from library creation to layout, documentation and release, with exposure to RF, digital, analogue and mixed-signal technologies.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of PCB design experience, with a genuine interest in electronics and a strong attention to detail. Hybrid working potential exists with 3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in PCB design or related engineering role.
• HNC/HND or degree in Electronics or related discipline.
• Interest in electronics and PCB layout.
• Experience with PCB design software (Altium advantageous).
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Support PCB design activities including library management, layout, documentation and release.
• Translate electronic schematics into high-quality PCB layouts.
• Ensure design documentation and release packs are accurate and complete.
• Participate in design reviews and implement feedback.
• Develop expertise in RF, digital, analogue and power PCB design.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electronics engineers on product integration and design optimisation.
• Assist with process improvements, supplier liaison and project delivery activities.
• Maintain a proactive, organised and detail-focused approach to assigned tasks.

Working for an innovative engineering consultancy developing advanced electronic products and technologies, this role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of PCB design experience who is keen to build a long-term career in high-quality board design while gaining exposure to RF, digital, analogue and mixed-signal technologies. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will support the full PCB design lifecycle, from component library creation through to layout, documentation and release, while learning from experienced PCB and electronics engineers.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Experience with PCB design software (Altium experience advantageous).
• Understanding of component placement, routing, design rules and manufacturing outputs.
• Ability to learn quickly, follow processes and work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
