Job summary

The Langley Trust is seeking an IAP Residential Support Worker (Relief) to join our Poole team. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care in our supported living services, ensuring continuity of care across shifts.

This full-time permanent role offers induction and ongoing training, a supportive team, and opportunities to develop skills in health, nursing & social care within a charity setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential care or supported living preferred.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 desirable; training provided.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, families and colleagues.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised care according to individual support plans.
  • Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, meals, medication, mobility.
  • Promote independence and social inclusion through community activities.
  • Maintain records and report health or behaviour changes.
  • Work with healthcare professionals, social workers and families.
  • Ensure health, safety, and safeguarding compliance.
  • Provide relief cover across shifts to support continuity.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated IAP Residential Support Worker (Relief) to join our team in Poole, Dorset. This vital role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care to residents within our supported living services. As a Relief Support Worker, you will play a key part in ensuring continuity of care and supporting the day-to-day needs of individuals in a respectful and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised care and support to residents in line with their Individualised Support Plans (IAPs).
  • Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility support.
  • Promote independence and social inclusion by encouraging participation in community activities and skill development.
  • Maintain accurate records and report any changes in residents’ health or behaviour promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, social workers, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies at all times.
  • Provide relief cover flexibly to support service continuity across shifts as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience in a residential care or supported living environment preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3) are desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and promoting dignity and respect.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
