Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking two Transport Coordination Officers to manage the day-to-day delivery of our transport service, balancing volunteer driver service and taxi provision to ensure safe and efficient journeys.

One full-time post (37 hours per week) and one part-time post (25 hours per week) are available. You will coordinate requests, allocate journeys, monitor operations and support performance and budget monitoring within the service.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Experience in a busy administrative or coordination role.
• Experience dealing with members of the public and handling queries.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, assessing and prioritising transport requests to determine appropriate delivery solutions.
• Allocating journeys to volunteer drivers and arranging taxi provision where required.
• Monitoring day-to-day operations and responding to changes, cancellations and service issues.
• Resolving routine and some complex issues, escalating where appropriate.
• Maintaining effective communication with service users, volunteer drivers, providers and internal stakeholders.
• Supporting the volunteer driver service and maintaining accurate records using ICT systems.
