Job summary

Durham County Council in the United Kingdom is seeking two Transport Coordination Officers to join our busy team. You will coordinate day-to-day transport delivery, balancing volunteer drivers with taxi provision to ensure safe, efficient journeys and high-quality service delivery.

Two posts: one full-time (37 hours per week) and one part-time (25 hours per week). We value proactive coordination, clear communication with users and drivers, and careful record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience of working in a busy administrative or coordination roles.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public and handling queries.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, assessing and prioritising transport requests to determine delivery solutions.
  • Allocating journeys to volunteer drivers and arranging taxi provision where required.
  • Monitoring day-to-day operations and responding to changes, cancellations and service issues.
  • Resolving routine and some complex issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Maintaining effective communication with service users, volunteer drivers, providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the volunteer driver service and maintaining accurate records using ICT systems.
  • Supporting service performance and budget monitoring, ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and data protection requirements, and contributing to process improvements.

Job description

We're looking for two Transport Coordination Officers to join our busy and dedicated team.

In this role, you'll coordinate and manage the day-to-day delivery of our transport service, balancing volunteer driver service and taxi provision to ensure journeys are delivered safely and efficiently to contribute to an effective service delivery.

There are two Transport Coordination Officer opportunities available within the service, one full-time post (37 hours per week) and one part-time post (25 hours per week).

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
  • Receiving, assessing and prioritising transport requests to determine appropriate delivery solutions.
  • Allocating journeys to volunteer drivers and arranging taxi provision where required.

You will also support service performance and budget monitoring, ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety and data protection requirements, and contribute to the ongoing development of processes and procedures within the service.
