Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Senior Lead Solution Architect to own solution design across major change initiatives. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, delivery and platform teams to craft end-to-end designs addressing data, integrations, cloud, security and infrastructure while guiding delivery and governance.

You will shape solutions, produce clear artefacts, and resolve cross-system decisions, delivering practical designs that teams can implement with confidence.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience designing and delivering complex solutions in a large organisation.
• Ability to work closely with engineering and delivery teams to unblock delivery.
• Broad technical knowledge across applications, integration, APIs, data, cloud, security and infrastructure.
• Experience with modern engineering approaches (cloud-native, microservices, event-driven, DevOps, CI/CD).
• Ability to explain decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Financial services experience is useful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solutions for multi-system change from shaping through delivery.
• Produce architecture artefacts showing structure, integrations, data flows, decisions and guidance.
• Collaborate with product, delivery and platform teams to turn requirements into practical designs.
• Review designs, challenge and coach other architects, support architecture governance.
