Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Solutions Architect with a passion for security to help shape the future of technology for our members. You’ll work as a core architect, designing end-to-end solutions across a complex tech landscape and embedding security by design.

You’ll modernise platforms, simplify architecture, and embed security into delivery, not bolt it on. This hybrid role offers three days in Skipton and two days remote, with collaboration across engineering, product, and risk

Qualifications

• Strong solution architecture experience for enterprise-scale tech solutions.
• Security-minded approach embedded in design and delivery.
• Knowledge of security controls across identity, data, cloud environments.
• Experience designing resilient, scalable architectures balancing risk and delivery.
• Familiarity with APIs, microservices, event-driven patterns, cloud platforms; Azure preferred.
• Proven ability to collaborate across business, technology, risk stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Turn strategic ambitions into practical, deliverable solutions and drive transformational change with engineering and product teams.
• Design end-to-end technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture and target-state capabilities.
• Partner with product owners and delivery leads to translate complex requirements into clear designs.
• Guide architectural decisions balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability.
• Provide architectural governance across the delivery lifecycle.
• Identify risks, trade-offs and opportunities to improve simplicity and coherence.
• Champion modern architecture approaches including API-led integration and cloud-native design.
