Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Senior Lead Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural direction across Technology and Security. You will lead architectures from concept to delivery, shaping roadmaps and ensuring alignment with security and regulatory needs.

The role requires deep expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud and infrastructure with strong leadership and communication skills to influence senior teams across the business.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading solution architecture across complex enterprise technology environments.
• Deep expertise in architecture frameworks, governance and best practices.
• Strong knowledge across cloud, infrastructure, data, security and software engineering, with Azure experience highly desirable.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills; credible with senior decision-makers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, governance and delivery of solution architectures from early idea through to implementation and service transition.
• Define and maintain architecture roadmaps, standards and design principles that support business and technology strategy.
• Partner with senior stakeholders, engineering, product and security teams to shape technology decisions.
• Evaluate design options, change requests and technical risks, providing clear recommendations and governance oversight.
• Mentor and support technical teams, promoting consistent application of architecture best practice.
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners to resolve complex challenges and support delivery and compliance.
