Job summary

Our Future Health is hiring a backend-leaning senior software engineer to join the Research Enablement squad. You will own backend APIs, security checks and cloud infrastructure, working at the intersection of TRE and bespoke security tooling.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers and contribute to frontend work in a total ownership squad, with a hybrid model and a London-based office in Holborn.

Qualifications

• Experience building cloud-hosted apps using Typescript and Node.js in startup or public service settings.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, React, WebAssembly and Python is a plus.
• Experience with Azure/AWS/GCP and Infra as Code (Terraform).
• Strong data modelling with PostgreSQL and knowledge of other data stores.
• Proven practice with CI/CD, code reviews, TDD and pairing.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend-leaning full-stack work, building APIs and security checks.
• Own deployment and operations, including observability and incident response.
• Collaborate with TRE, security tooling teams and researchers to enable trusted environments.
• Mentor and coach engineers while guiding technical discussions.
• Contribute to frontend and infrastructure work as part of a total ownership squad.
