Job summary

Our Future Health is seeking a backend-leaning senior software engineer to join the Research Enablement squad in a hybrid role. The team builds secure, scalable services and collaborates with TRE tools to empower health research.

You’ll own backend and some frontend work, emphasizing APIs, event-driven systems, and security. The position requires strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, cloud experience, and a proactive approach to debugging and incident management.

Qualifications

• Experience building cloud-hosted applications in startup/public service/charity settings.
• Experience with GraphQL/React/WebAssembly and Python is a plus.
• Experience with Azure/AWS/GCP and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Strong data modelling with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and other data stores.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services and APIs for secure TRE-enabled environment.
• Contribute to frontend tasks when needed within a full-stack squad.
• Collaborate with security tooling and data teams to protect sensitive information.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and peers.
