Job summary

UK Power Networks in the Chatham area is looking for an Ops Telecoms Technician to join the Network Operations team. The role involves on-site and workshop work, wiring, and SCADA maintenance with a focus on safety and reliability.

You will work on Copper/fibre optic circuits, radio equipment, telecontrol devices and substation interfaces, with distributed working and a salary of £56,576 plus a 3% bonus. DBS check may be required prior to joining.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of SCADA networks and real-time control.
• Basic protection systems awareness and inter-tripping fundamentals.
• Experience with wiring diagrams and schematic interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high safety standards and follow safety procedures.
• Carry out wiring and SCADA-related on-site modifications or repairs.
• Deliver upgrades and improvements to operational SCADA equipment in substations.
• Construct TECs and SCADA equipment at the Ops Telecoms workshops.
• Install copper and fibre optic circuits and related telecoms gear.
• Maintain and calibrate measurement and test equipment (spectrum analysers, signal generators).
• Support stock replenishment and safe deployment during incidents.
