Job summary

University of the Built Environment in Reading, Berkshire, invites applications for an IT Support Engineer to join our busy Technology team. This full-time fixed-term role runs up to 12 months, with hybrid working of up to two days per week from home.

As a first point of contact for students and staff, you will log incidents, provide end-user computing support, hardware setup, basic networking help, and ensure customers are updated throughout the ticket lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar/technical IT support role.
• Experience working with Active Directory.
• Understanding of setup and configuration of hardware (laptops and peripherals).
• Ability to troubleshoot networking basics (DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming incidents and service requests within the service desk system.
• Provide technical support for end-user computing, device management, M365 troubleshooting, networking basics, AV/teaching room support, and identity/access issues.
• Ensure the customer is continually updated throughout the lifecycle of their ticket.
• Follow IT procedures to set up new starters, changes or leavers.
