Job summary

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking a dedicated Personal Advisor to join the Corporate Parenting Service, supporting Care Experienced Young People (CEYP) through transitions into adulthood. You will work directly with young people to help them access accommodation, education, employment and training opportunities, while safeguarding their welfare and coordinating with partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Has experience of working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
• Understands the challenges faced by Care Experienced Young People.
• Has excellent communication, relationship‑building and advocacy skills.
• Can work effectively within a multi‑agency environment.
• Is organised, resilient and able to manage a varied caseload.
• Is committed to improving outcomes for young people and supporting them to achieve their goals.
• Able and willing to travel throughout the UK to undertake visits to young people.
• Able to work flexibly, including occasional work outside core hours, to meet the needs of young people.
• Able to attend the office a minimum of two days per week as part of a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Support and safeguard Care Experienced Young People through effective planning for accommodation, education, employment and training (EET).
• Undertake statutory duties and responsibilities in relation to Looked After Children and Care Experienced Young People.
• Complete assessments of need using relevant assessment frameworks and ensure plans are tailored to individual circumstances.
• Develop, implement and review Care Plans and Pathway Plans to support positive outcomes.
• Monitor progress and ensure regular reviews are completed in line with statutory requirements.
• Participate in reviews and contribute to multi‑agency planning and decision‑making.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver an integrated and coordinated service for young people.
• Support asylum‑seeking young people by ensuring they have access to high‑quality legal representation for their asylum applications and maintain appropriate contact with immigration authorities.
• Promote young people's wellbeing, independence and participation in decisions affecting their lives.
