Job summary

GE Vernova in Glasgow is seeking a Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead HV/EHV substation design and delivery, coordinating with global teams to meet project milestones. You will develop integrated 3D models and layout designs for complex substations.

You will review vendor drawings, ensure compliance with UK standards and CDM 2015, and mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality outputs on schedule. Relocation assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in HV substation design across tender and execution phases.
• Knowledge of UK transmission and distribution standards.
• Proficient CAD skills; BIM/3D tools awareness (Revit, Navisworks).
• Familiar with CDM regulations and safety-by-design principles.
• Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver primary plant designs for HV/EHV substations.
• Develop and review a fully integrated 3D model, general arrangement drawings, section drawings, and layout designs.
• Review and approve vendor drawings and specifications, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Coordinate with remote global engineering teams and liaise with clients and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with CDM2015 and quality assurance throughout the lifecycle.
