Job summary

OCU Group in Scotland is recruiting an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Construction Manager to lead the delivery of major high-voltage energy projects across Scotland, including substations up to 400kV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will oversee safety, programme, and quality, directing site teams and coordinating with PMs, designers, DNOs, OEMs, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Experience leading M&E construction on HV infrastructure.
• Substations, BESS, or electrical infrastructure delivery experience.
• Qualification in Construction/Engineering or Safety (or equivalent).
• NEBOSH, IOSH or similar health and safety qualification.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and Principal Contractor responsibilities.
• Experience developing RAMS, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work processes.
• AP experience desirable for the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead all Mechanical & Electrical construction activities across substations, BESS, and associated energy projects.
• Manage site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure safe, on-time delivery.
• Coordinate HV/LV installations: transformers, switchgear, protection, SCADA, cables, earthings.
• Plan works to programme milestones and project specs.
• Ensure CDM 2015 compliance, RAMS, permits, and quality standards.
• Monitor progress, productivity, and quality; resolve technical challenges.
• Lead inspections, ITPs, pre-commissioning, and documentation for handover.
• Coordinate commissioning and energisation with APs, SAPs, OEMs, and DNOs.
• Foster a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture on site.
