Job summary

Arup is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in power transmission and distribution to support HV/EHV infrastructure projects. You will work within multidisciplinary teams on substations, cable systems and related electrical infrastructure, preparing technical deliverables and applying industry standards.

You will use tools such as PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, CYMCAP, CDEGS and CAD platforms, contributing to studies, designs and technical reports while progressing toward professional

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electrical Power Systems or a related discipline.
• Relevant engineering experience in a similar role within the power or electrical engineering sector.
• Experience working on electrical infrastructure, power networks, utilities or comparable engineering projects.
• Understanding of HV electrical systems and fundamental power engineering principles.
• Ability to produce calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving capability.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and delivery of HV/EHV infrastructure projects, including substations and cable systems.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables: single-line diagrams, equipment specs, calculations and earthing designs.
• Apply UK/international electrical standards and industry tools (PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, CYMCAP, CDEGS).
• Coordinate with civil/structural/mechanical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support technical assurance, design reviews, client engagement and project delivery within budget and schedule.
• Possibly perform site visits and support during delivery.
