Qualifications

  • Experience in a Human Resources team, specifically in employee relations.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards it.

Responsibilities

The People & Culture team at Bath College launched our new strategy in January 2025, and we are recruiting an HR Advisor to support the delivery of this ambitious programme. You’ll help us ensure we retain great staff, support staff development, and oversee reward and recognition programmes for all staff. You’ll work with the People and Culture team on employee relations issues, managing absence, supporting staff well-being, and contributing to projects, as well as assisting managers to provide the right tools, confidence, and knowledge for their staff to perform effectively. Our goal is to make Bath College a great place to work.


You’ll need experience working in a Human Resources team, specifically employee relations, and be Level 5 CIPD qualified or working towards this. We seek a confident colleague who can work effectively with staff and managers and understands current best practices. Experience with HR systems and a keen interest in maximizing their use is essential. The role involves advising staff and managers, monitoring quality, ensuring compliance, and implementing improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Organising and delivering first-day inductions to ensure new staff have a positive experience.
  2. Monitoring and supporting probation processes, advising line managers, following up on issues, processing probation reviews, and updating systems.
  3. Creating contracts of employment and bank worker agreements, ensuring accuracy, and collecting signed documents.
  4. Preparing and processing contract change letters, updating employee systems, and recording changes for audit purposes.
  5. Advising managers and staff on employment queries via in-person, email, and Teams communication.
  6. Leading on first-stage attendance management, identifying areas for improvement, and advising managers accordingly.
  7. Supporting managers and the People & Culture Business Partner with formal and informal processes such as capability, conduct, and grievances, including notetaking and ensuring timely, accurate completion of documentation.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or significant relevant experience with willingness to work towards it.
  • Four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues from all backgrounds.
  • Good knowledge of current HR practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including creating professional documents in Word, manipulating data in Excel with basic formulas, and presenting data effectively.
