Job summary

UK Civil Service is seeking an HR Administrator to provide high-quality HR administration across people-related activities, supporting employees, managers and wider HR teams. You will manage HR transactions, maintain records, support recruitment and Learning & Development, and ensure processes comply with policies.

You'll rotate across HR areas, handle competing priorities, uphold data integrity and deliver excellent customer service to stakeholders within a busy public sector environment.

Qualifications

  • BPSS clearance is required.
  • Proven experience in HR administration or similar environment.
  • Strong data protection and GDPR knowledge.
  • Experience supporting recruitment processes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow policies, processes and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Handle HR transactional queries through to resolution, providing a responsive and professional service to employees and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with relevant policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Support Learning & Development activities and other wider HR processes as required.
  • Manage shared inboxes, ensuring queries and actions are prioritised and completed within agreed timescales.
  • Support recruitment activities and provide effective administrative support throughout the recruitment process.
  • Gather, interpret, and present HR data, highlighting key insights, trends, issues, and potential solutions.
  • Support departments with effective workforce and recruitment administration.
  • Apply HR policies, procedures, and processes consistently and accurately.
  • Develop strong working relationships with employees, managers, HR colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively within the wider HR function, supporting colleagues and providing resource where required.
  • Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring deadlines and service standards are maintained.
  • Provide excellent customer service through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Support continuous improvement across HR administration processes and services.

Job description

As an HR Administrator, you will provide a high-quality HR administration service across a range of people-related activities, supporting employees, managers, and wider HR teams. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will manage HR transactions, maintain accurate employee records, support recruitment and Learning & Development activities, and ensure HR processes are delivered efficiently and in line with relevant policies and guidelines.

The role will involve working across different areas of HR, with the opportunity to rotate and support resources where they are most needed. You will be expected to manage competing priorities, maintain data integrity, and provide excellent customer service to a range of stakeholders.

Requirements
  • Candidates must possess BPSS clearance.
  • Proven experience working in an HR administration or similar administrative environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate employee records and data.
  • Understanding of data protection, GDPR, and the importance of handling personal information securely.
  • Demonstrable customer service skills and a professional approach to handling employee and stakeholder queries.
  • Ability to follow established policies, processes, and guidelines accurately.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Previous experience supporting recruitment processes.
  • Level 3 CIPD qualification or equivalent HR knowledge.
  • Previous experience working within a public sector or government environment.
  • Understanding of pension schemes and the application of relevant rules and processes.
  • Broader awareness of HR functions, policies, processes, and employee lifecycle activities.
