Job summary
Jobtailor is seeking an engineer to design and develop HTS magnets and magnetic coils in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting in the United Kingdom. You will translate performance requirements into practical engineering solutions and support prototype development, testing and experimental campaigns.
The role involves analysing test data, contributing to design improvements and developing software tools in MATLAB and Python, with opportunities to contribute to technical reports and IP
Qualifications
- Degree/MSc/PhD in Physics or Engineering with post-study industry experience.
- Experience with complex technical systems.
- Understanding of electromagnetics, superconductivity, cryogenics.
- Programming experience using MATLAB, Python or similar.
- Ability to take ownership and work collaboratively.
- Experience with superconducting magnets or magnetic systems is desirable.
- Experience with COMSOL, ANSYS or OPERA is desirable.
- Experimental testing experience is desirable.
- Manufacturing or prototype development exposure is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop HTS magnets and magnetic coils.
- Translate performance requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Support prototype development, testing and experimental campaigns.
- Analyse test data and contribute to design improvements.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Develop software tools and analysis methods using MATLAB, Python or similar.
- Contribute to technical reports and intellectual property generation.
