Job summary

Tokamak Energy Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Magnet Engineer to lead the design, development and testing of advanced HTS magnet systems. You will own magnet work packages and drive delivery across prototype builds and campaigns.

The role blends hands‑on engineering with collaboration across research facilities, suppliers and partners, with a hybrid work model offering 60% onsite and 40% home working.

Qualifications

Degree/MSc/PhD in Physics or Engineering.
Significant experience developing complex engineering systems.
Strong knowledge of superconducting magnets, cryogenics or electromagnetics.
Experience leading technical projects or workstreams.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of advanced HTS magnet and coil systems.
Own magnet development work packages and project delivery.
Define and oversee prototype build and test campaigns.
Review experimental data and steer technical decisions.
Collaborate with research facilities, suppliers and partners.
Mentor and support engineers and technicians.
Contribute to commercialisation and intellectual property generation.
