Job Title: International People Operations Manager – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Location: London, UK (Hybrid: 2–3 days in-office per week)

About the Role

Edison Smart is partnered with a global technology-driven organization is seeking an experienced International People Operations Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in London. This role will play a pivotal part in driving HR operational excellence across EMEA and APAC regions, partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance, optimize processes, and manage complex employee relations matters.
The successful candidate will act as a strategic point of contact for international HR operations, contributing to policy development, international expansion, and engagement with works councils. This is an opportunity to influence HR transformation in a high-growth, global tech environment, with potential for contract extension based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR Operations partner for EMEA and APAC, addressing day-to-day people matters aligned with local labor laws and company policies.
  • Act as liaison between international stakeholders, People Partners, Employment Counsel, and Centers of Excellence to ensure HR initiatives are executed globally with regional sensitivity.
  • Lead and support cross-functional HR projects, policy development, and process improvements to streamline international operations.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations in key markets including the UK, Germany, France, Singapore, Australia, and Japan.
  • Act as the key People Operations point of contact for the German Works Council, facilitating collaboration and supporting regulatory alignment.
  • Support HR activities related to international expansion, including legal entity setup, onboarding compliance, employment documentation, and managing probation processes.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance teams to ensure alignment on risk management and best practices across the organization.
  • Drive international engagement by coordinating regional HR stakeholders, gathering insights, and presenting issues to leadership as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying operational inefficiencies and recommending scalable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive HR operations experience in global and matrixed organizations, preferably within US-headquartered companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cross-regional HR initiatives across EMEA and APAC.
  • Expert understanding of local employment laws and European Works Councils.
  • Adept at building trust and influencing leaders across functions and geographies.
  • Strong individual contributor who thrives in autonomous roles with international reporting lines.
  • Proficient in HR tools such as Workday, Google Workspace, Jira, and Slack.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a focus on business alignment.
