Job summary

Job description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Advisor to join our friendly team. You will provide professional and business-focused HR support and advice to managers and will be aligned to specific Divisions, working alongside colleagues and the wider HR team. The role offers the opportunity to develop a broad generalist portfolio of HR experience in a supportive and proactive team environment. You will support and advise on a wide range of issues including sickness absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedures, change management, and interpretation of policies and terms and conditions of employment. This role involves flexible working, which could include working from the main office on the Stepping Hill site, community locations, and there is also the opportunity to work from home on a hybrid arrangement.

This post is fixed-term for a 12-month period.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide a focused HR service, ensuring professional, proactive, comprehensive, and effective HR advice and support to line managers within designated business groups throughout the Trust.
  2. Ensure the service provided is consistent within defined quality standards and all relevant policies and procedures are followed to implement the HR strategy, objectives, and key performance indicators effectively across the organization.
  3. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment by implementing policies, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively, and sharing information appropriately.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
  • Educated to degree or equivalent experience
  • Possession of graduate membership of the CIPD or equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
Knowledge
  • Good understanding of HR best practice and up-to-date employment legislation
  • Knowledge of NHS terms and conditions of employment
  • Understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality requirements
  • Knowledge of NHS issues, policies, and modernization agenda
Experience
  • Generalist HR experience with operational employee relations issues
  • Providing advice and guidance to managers and staff
  • Experience working in a busy HR environment with competing demands
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in policy review, development, and implementation
  • Experience of NHS HR practice and unionized environments
Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency with HR databases and systems
